HEDONISM II - NEGRIL, JAMAICA Reviewed By " Anonymous and frozen in Canada " DEC, 2004 |
Our Hedo2 trip started with a 4 hour flight to Toronto, 4 hour layover that we were not looking forward too, and another 4 hour flight to MB. The trip to TO was quiet, we had breakfast at the airport and settled in for the long wait. A few minutes later a couple that boarded with us in Edmonton sat down not far away and always the social butterfly I strolled over and said hi. As it turns out they live 10 minutes from us and were off to Hedo 3. The four of us spent the next couple hours chatting which really made the time pass. We have gotten together once since returning and hopefully will again as P and T are really nice and fun loving people. Still 1000 miles from the resort and already meeting cool people, things really started on a good note and only got better....
If you are thinking of going to Hedo but feel a little shy about it.... GO THERE!!! We met more great people and partied harder in one week then the last 5 years combined at home. It is unlikely that anyone will do anything to make you uncomfortable, very much the opposite. If you are easily shocked maybe avoid a lifestyles week and the hottub at night, otherwise Hedo is nowhere near as wild as it is made out. Think sun, beach, tons of great food, alcohol by the pail, your significant other, no screaming kids, funloving people, where does it end? This place really does allow the little kid in all of us to get absoloutely plastered and let it all hang out. As my friend Boston Mike said and I quote " there are 7 things we should not have to much of and they are all free at Hedo ", amen brotha!
The best way to approach things, I believe, is one at a time so here goes:
1. The people that we met are truly from all walks of life, a mechanic, plumber, salespeople, techies, doctor, lawyer, nurse and more that I can't recall. The one thing we all have in common is a zest for life and funloving natures. I stopped at the dining room for a coffee one morning after watching the sunrise and was invited to sit with the only other person in there. Jerry, a vet from Kentucky and 20 some years my senior, proceeded to entertain me with stories of a squirrel infestation in his cabin back home. We could not possibly be from more opposite ends of the spectrum and were total strangers, but enjoyed each otherscompany anyway. That's Hedo in a nutshell.
All the people who work the resort- Kudos too all of you, from first to last. A very warm and funloving bunch very quick to smile and chat, thanks for spoiling us the whole week. Take the time to say hello to everyone you meet, it is worth the effort.
2. On getting naked- Who said we should wear clothes and why do we listen, clothing SUCKS !! That said half the resort and all the shared areas are clothed only, so you can do whatever you are comfortable with. There is every age and body type you can imagine and no one will even think twice about your nekkidness as they are too. What's the big deal, we were all born naked and it was ok then?
3. The resort- Beauiful, like living in the middle of a rain forest. Clean as can be, nice gym, nice restaraunts and rooms, amazing beach, it really is all good.
4. Food- very underrated in every trip report I read, we ate mostly in the dining room and always found something to satisfy our very opposite tastes.
5. Entertainment- Something for everyone, do as little or as much as you like but don't forget to sleep at some point !
6.Last but not least....our travel agent Maria. Thanks for helping put this trip together, everything went without a glitch. We will talk to you soon about the Disney trip planned for November. |
